SPECIAL SNEAK PREVIEW SCREENING !!
TREE-SIT - The Art of Resistance
The amazing new feature-length, grass-roots documentary from the front-lines of the environmental struggle is coming to town for a pre-release sneak showing! This is an epic saga of the destruction of North America's oldest temperate rainforests, told through the eyes of dedicated and courageous forest defenders who share their insights from their perches high in the trees. While on the ground, local residents, Native Americans, biologists, loggers, and government officials make thier opinions known. These intimate and heartrending tales from the edge of the disappearing wilderness, bear witness to a vast battle which rages over our entire planet!
Beautiful nature footage mixed with a powerful hypnotic soundtrack tie together both the history of this modern struggle and the immediacy of one of today's most pressing unresolved problems.
The now famous Julia Butterfly who lived for 2 years non-stop in an enormous redwood, and numerous other tree-sitters, (less famous but equally courageous), describe a new found spiritual and ecological wisdom that correspond with indigenous beliefs that hold the Mother Earth as sacred. Wall St., corporations and Government see it differently, as a commodity to be utilized through exploitation.
Beyond the stereotypes of hippie tree-huggers vs. redneck loggers, this film explores the dire ecological and real economic issues intertwined with the ancient forests, from global warming to clean water to the WTO protests in Seattle.
TREE-SIT is comprised of short segments that include the assassination attempt on Earth First organizer Judi Bari, the campaign to save Headwaters Forest, the United Steelworkers Union joining forces with environmentalists to challenge Big Business, the near extinction of wild salmon, and the government corruption and growing police state that undermines real democracy. A scathing indictment of "free market" economics that connects such diverse issues as political prisoners in America, (Leonard Peltier) with rural residents suffering from loss of drinking water due to deforestation, flooding and herbicide spraying.
TREE-SIT reaches into times past and future, showing the historical continuity of this very up-to-the-minute movement.
A whirlwind ride, not to be missed!

17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath showed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
