"The IRS has adopted a number of the old habits of totalitarian regimes, one of which is paying informers...it engenders mistrust and deceit, rather than a CIVIL society, which should be the object of good goverance."

Liberty requires privacy, particularly financial privacy....the freedom of the individual takes precedence over the fiscal interests of the state, even on the risk that this freedom is sometimes misused.

Christopher Booker: "Our government has recently unleashed the greatest avalanche of regulations in peacetime history, and wherever we ecamine their working we see that they are using a sledgehammer to miss a nut."

you can blame the IRS and regulations for everything bad in the world, but President George Bush, along with the Republican Party, just made it easier for insurance and pharmaceutical coporations to get a hold of your medical records. They repealed the regulations that kept these records a matter between you and your doctor. So expect a flood of junk mail, cold calling telephone selicitations, and spam advertising health insurance plans, vioxx, viagra and anti-depressants. or pills for whatever disease you struggle with. which is now a matter of public record.

it cuts both ways.
