While many people milled about on the Monday respice of Labor Day, about a hundred union members of the Hotel and Restaurant Workers Union Local 2 walked the picket line in the hot California sun as they enacted the premise of Labor day through an ongoing 100 day strike. The Courtyard Marriot sits nestled in the San Francisco Marina district in Supervisor Gavin Newsom's district. While he is working to promote an initiative, Proposition N (vote No on N) which takes cash assistance away from unemployed workers one of his main backers, the Hotel Owners of the Marina are working to deny basic equal justice in pay, vacation and benefits to the mostly immigrant workers of the Courtyard Marriott.
