Current Threats to America Include "a Loose Alliance of Left-Wing Groups"
http://nyc.indymedia.org:8081/

"With respect to the World Bank (WB) and International Monetary Fund (IMF) annual meeting in Washington, DC during the period September 25-29th, protest organizers have said that they expect thousands to turn out near the Washington headquarters of these global financial institutions. A loose alliance of left-wing groups --- environmental, human rights and debt-relief, etc. --- are organizing the protest. It is expected that some individuals plan to engage in criminal activity aimed at disrupting the meeting and drawing attention to their cause. Prior protests against the IMF and WB in Washington, D.C. were disruptive and resulted in limited clashes with police, and property damage to businesses. Historically, tiny contingents of individuals associated with the protests belonged to violent groups. Those groups have a history of causing property damage to entities perceived to represent capitalism such as banks, fast food restaurants, and multinational corporations."

sadly, this isn't surprising.

n.p.r. has reported today that an effort is underway amongst some right wing legislators and various right wing judicial activists to equate radical environmental activist groups with al queda. they believe this labelling in the public eye, this disgusting attempt to cast false guilt by false association, will allow them to pass legislation which denies environmental groups non-profit tax status.

and here we have america's internal security apparatus casting left-wing groups, "tiny" groups no less, as a large, serious threat to national security. as some kind of massive evil monster, made up of a tiny minority of people whose views do not reflect the average american's.

that's pretty strange. it stinks like shit, in fact. how could such "tiny minorities" be such a threat? how could they be cast as such a threat in one breath, and in the next be dismissed as a tiny minority?

could a group that demonstrates against the IMF, and it's forcing of neo-liberal economic policy on soveriegn economies that may not be able to handle a neo-liberal economy, be a threat to american national security? a threat to everyday american's who are working hard, just living their lives, going to baseball games? should these groups be lumped in with al queda, a terrorist group blamed for the death of 3000 americans? does that logic work for you...

ohh, i "see", so it was the group sitting 100 feet up in an old growth sequioa tree who bombed the u.s.s. cole. while no one was looking, they grabbed a dingy and paddled half way accross the globe with 100's of pounds of explosives and blew themselves and a u.s. warship up. "gee", how could i not "see" that oh so clear connection...

boy, it sure is "justifiable" to lump radical environmentalists, who fiercely support life after all, in with groups who kill and maim and end the lives of 1000's of people, isn't it. yeah, that's some "smart" thinking...

this is what it has come to after 9-11. the world hasn't gotten any better, at all. it's gotten worse. and it's gotten meaner. people are playing dirty. real dirty. the differences between the "left" and the "right" are growing. and i'm not talking about in this country. i mean in the whole world.

ever since 9-11, as the year has gone by, it has become evident to me about how and who is using and abusing 9-11 to gain. the patriot act. the axis of evil. the "trust your leaders, damn it, just believe us" war in iraq. and now attempts to cast activists who are trying to create a better world as nothing more than murdering terrorists. all these peices just falling in to place. marching right along. and that's the thing that gives me the creeps, makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. how precisely, and rapidly, and effortlessly all these things have come to pass.

this is how the "right" deals with things. flailing about in some kind of a fit for enemies. using fear to gain political advantage. it's just really, really sad. and unexcusable. if i was one of these groups who has been targeted, who has been lumped in with violent murderers, i would sue for libel and slander. i would protest ever more vehemently, and more often. fuck these bastards. get even more up in their face. wreak more havoc. these fuckers, ensconced in their thrones, protected by their money, using the powers of the state, should not be allowed to get away with it.

way to go, all of you on the "right". your dreams are becoming a reality. your legacy is being manifested. your gift to this country and to the world is slowly being unwrapped. will it blow up if we open it? and it's funny, because its awalys the "left" who are supposed to be the all powerful bad guys...

The problem is that that small percentage of people who conprise the activist left are expressing the concerns of millions, if not a majority. For example:

A majority did not elect George Bush

70% of Americans are pro union, even if only 11% are actual members

Most people do not trust corporate leaders, esp after WorldCom, Enron, etc.

Most people are against excessive taxation, and are opposed to the trampling of civil liberties by the State and the de facto suspension of the Consitution

Most people do not trust the cops, and even the ones that do don't like them much

Everyobody knows that the enemy of the Government is the people. Especially those whose power is at stake.

None of this is unprecedented. We have the Palmer raids and the old BOI of W.W. I. We have the imprisonment of IWWs in the teens and communists in the 30's. We have COINTELPRO from the early sixties to date. Why is everyone so surprised?

All the more reason to organize. Organize or perish.

Lock them up first-how liberalism begets Fascism

….But we live in a looking-glass age, where much is the mirror image of what it should be. Liberals (in the American sense) have long established their virtue in the eyes of fellow liberals by playing the game of more-lenient-than-thou. The opinion of other liberals has been more important to them than the reality their liberality has wreaked - at least until that reality begins to impinge on their own lives, when, of course, they begin to long for the man on the white horse.

….Self-control is obviously preferable to authoritarianism, not only because authoritarianism is horrible in itself, but also because people with self-control are better than people without. Those liberals who so insouciantly attacked previously existing standards as repressive, and who believe that they were fighting for freedom, were actually preparing the path for fascism. And that is why preventive detention will soon become a reality.

way to go. you're proving what i'm saying. you're clearly illustrating the mindset of many on the "right".

so arrest me. crucify all liberals. put liberals in chains and drag them through the streets, whipping them. if that's what gets you off, go ahead. it says more about what you believe than it does about what i believe. if you're not careful, you won't realize that.

here's an exercise in cheap shot logic:

liberalism = fascism.

o.k. so then, the "right" wing = totalitarian stalinists.

what utterly worthless crap.

so, the civil rights movement was a fascist movement. a movement that seeked to overturn racism and its "pre-existing standards" was on par with hitler's ideology, and lead to the deaths of millions of people, a world war, and the return of racist slavery to america.

yeah, o.k., sure, whatever you say...

so, any person without self-control is by extension a liberal. all sexual predators, all perverts, all murderers, all criminals of any kind, all of them were hard core, card carrying liberals who had no self-control because personal self-control and being responsible for ones actions is what liberalism is fighting to overthrow in america.

yeah, o.k., "sure", whatever you say... is that a flying pig hovering outside my window...?
