Stepping Up the Fight To Defend Internet Rights
Hamidi To Speak in New York and Stanford
The battle to defend democratic rights on the internet will take front page from New York to Stanford University the next two months. Ken Hamidi the founder of http://www.faceintel.com and a fired engineer from the Intel Corporation is in a critical struggle to defend the right of internet users to send email to workers others who are employed by major corporations.
Using the pretext that this is an invasion of private property Intel backed by the US Chamber Of Commerce is seeking to get a permanent bar of internet users from using email to their employees. This attack on democratic rights on the internet not only threatens Ken's rights but the rights of all people to communicate.
Ken Hamidi will be participating in the New York conference "Labor's Voices/LaborTECH http://www.laborsvoiceslabortech.org on September 28-29 and there will be proposals for the labor community to take this struggle national.
Also, Hamidi will be following the conference up by participating in a Silicon Valley meeting on Tuesday October 15, 2002 at Stanford University. This meeting will tie together the struggle to defend democracy on the internet to the fight of the Yahoo janitors to have a unions. It is sponsored by LaborNet http://www.labornet.org/Labor Tech http://www.laborTECH.org, SEIU 1877 and others in the Silicon Valley concerned about these critical issues.
These meetings will provide an important opportunity to raise the Hamidi fight to a new level.
