Thirteen women have ascended into the forest canopies, in protest of Maxxam Corporation/Pacific Lumber Company’s continued liquidation of the last of the Old Growth Redwood and Douglas Fir forests in Humboldt County, California.
The following is their mission statement:
“In honor of the 13 moons in every year that bring light in the darkness, we 13+
sisters, on this full moon, ascend into the canopy of 13 sacred old-growth trees. Our mission is to create the awareness that we are not separate from nature, we are one with all living things. When the quality of our land, air, and water are endangered, we are endangered. As the moon wanes, guided by the wisdom of these ancient trees, we will reflect on:
Love
Peace
Respect
Non-violence
Healing
Magic
Spirit
Protection
Action
Truth
Justice
Harmony
Compassion
As we descend with the new moon, traditionally a time of planting, we will carry with us these seeds of light to share and plant with all of humanity to sprout, grow, and harvest; so the cycle continues.”
These 13 women will be in the Freshwater, Van Duzen, and Mattole River watersheds, which have all been severely decimated by Maxxam/PL’s irresponsible and often illegal logging practices. Interviews can be arranged by calling either of the given numbers, and visits to the tree-sits as well.

perfect humans in trees.
Perfect humans cut trees,
perfect destruction.
Perfect stillness,
perfect peace.
The only imperfection it seems, is that we perceive ourselves
imperfect.
I am so tired of the bible-belt region.... I feel so alone and spiritually opressed.
Also if anyone has seen Ki-(Victor) please to tell him to e-mail me. I REALLY MISS HIM.
