On Wednesday March 5, 2003 at 2:00 students from all over Sonoma County started converging upon Court Yard Square in Santa Rosa. The students had one message on their mind, Books Not Bombs, and the increased military presence that has invaded their learning environment. Students from high schools around the county, Santa Rosa JC students, and the Student Activist League of Sonoma (SSU students), joined together to close down the local military recruiting station located at 420 Mendocino Ave.

The Students occupied the station from 4:00 until 6:00 when the Santa Rosa Police department attired in attack gear arrested 12, peaceful protestors, who were doing a sit in at the Navy recruiters office. The students did not resist the police and where taken away while chatting slogans like, “let us grow up military out of our schools.” The local peace community came out in support of these brave teens, who where willing to make a point by protesting the presence of military with in their education.
