Freshwater face off day two. (from an eyewitness)

by Dean st.
Update on the freshwater tree-sit evictions
One tree-sitter was dangerously removed from her perch over several hour period today. Three Pacific Lumber climbers went up into her tree and clipped the chains she had used to lock herself to the tree. They then used pain holds on her in order to force her hands behind her back and to handcuff her. She was screaming in pain. They cuffed her but was not safetied onto the tree. The climbers accidentaly cuffed her hands around one of their ropes. They put a chest harness on her and pulled her from her position. They then zip-tied her ankles together and lowered her down.
While this was happening, two more climbers went up another tree nearby. The tree-sitter in that tree climbed to the very tip of the tree and the climbers couldn't get him. The climbers then proceeded to cut almost all of the trees limbs below the forest defender. They also cut the small trees that grew near that tree.
When the anti-environmental forces realized that they weren't winning with their climbing strategy, they revealed a new tactic, fataly wounding the trees themselves. They cut a ring around the base of the two trees, stripping a section of cambium, the part of a tree that produces bark and heartwood and transports important nutrients and moisture. As of tonight they have only done this to two trees, but we expect more. Forest defenders are working into the night to prepare for the attack on the forest tomarrow.
There are more treesits in freshwater now than there were when the evictions started. The struggle here in humboldt is intense right now. PL is going all out to cut the last of their old-growth forests. They want to cut large chunks out of the the largest " privately owned" old-growth douglas fir forest in the Mattole watershed of southern humboldt county soon.

Join this part of the revolution if you want to stand up to environmental destruction at the hands of greedy corporations.
