SFPD Excessive Force: Van Jones, Civil Rights Lawyer: LIVE WITNESS
Van Jones phone interviews on KPFA/Pacifica, FLASHPOINTS
Listen now:
Van Jones spoke with Dennis Bernstein, producer of Flashpoints as police were roughing up activists. He provides live witness via phone.
He notes that police are using strong-arm tactics today because they were essentially caught with their pants down yesterday and taking heat from the mayor, etc. He cites the fact that the crowed is smaller than Thursday as a factor as well, and notes that when the bigger demonstration happens Saturday, the police will not get as out of control because they will not be able to get away with it.
Aired on KPFA in the 2pm hour.
Van Jones is the founder and National Executive Director of the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights (EBC). More info on Jones and EBC: http://www.ellabakercenter.org/frame1.html
