Police Filmed Beating Up & Setting Up EU Protester

June 21, 2003, Thessaloniki: EU protester Simon Chapman was filmed and photographed as he was beaten up, and then set up by police. Police are shown placing bags filled with hammers and molotov cocktails around Chapman, who now faces 7-25 years in prison. Following is a low-resolution (67kbps) form of the 6:46 video.

The first picture of the video clearly shows that Simon is carrying a blue bag while he is beaten up -- police have denied that Simon was carrying a blue bag. Footage taken from ET3, the national Greek news channel, shows police putting a hammer and an axe inside some black bags picked up from the street and placing them around Simon.
