Friday, February 27th 10am-1pm - Make Noise at the Federal Building 450 Golden Gate Ave, SF - Let the drums of justice beat loud and clear so that even
the federal government hears that we exist and deserve our civil rights too.
Friday, February 27th 6pm- Oakland - Presidential Candidate John Kerry's visit
Teamsters Hall, 70 Hegenberger Rd. Oakland.
Presidential candidate John F. Kerry said yesterday that he supports amending the
Massachusetts Constitution to ban gay marriage and provide for civil unions for gay
couples." MECA is holding Kerry accountable for his failure to support marriage
equality - yet giving him a slight nod for being against the Federal anti-Marriage
Amendment.
Saturday, February 28th 11am-1pm - San Francisco - Thank Mayor Newsom
James Lick Middle School Auditorium, 1220 Noe St, SF
Mayor Newsom is having an Town Hall meeting this Saturday and this is an opportunity
for the Community to personally thank the Mayor for his courage and leadership on
same-sex marriage.
Sunday, February 29th 2pm Update on Lawsuits, Licenses & Further Action
Knowledge is Power. Community meeting to find out the latest on action in the
courts, in Congress, at the state capitol and here in San Francisco. Find out how
people can take part in the struggle for marriage equality! San Francisco Lesbian
Gay Bisexual Transgender Community Center, 1800 Market Street. Sponsored by the
LGBT Community Center, Marriage Equality California, the ACLU of Northern Cal,
Equality California and the National Center for Lesbian Rights
Tuesday, March 2nd 9:00 am San Mateo County Board of Supervisors Meeting
Supporting Council member Rich Gordon's Resolution against the Federal anti-Marriage
Amendment and urging them to pass one in support of Mark Leno's Marriage Licenses
Non-Discrimination Act. The meeting will be held at the County Center Building-400
County Center, Redwood City, CA 94063. It is in the Board of Supervisors meeting
room on the first floor, which is on the exact opposite side of the entrance.The
meeting begins promptly at 9:00 a.m. and people should arrive a few minutes prior to
that to fill out a slip to request to speak. The first part of the meeting is
allowing the public to speak.
Tuesday, March 2nd 7-9pm- San Francisco MECA Chapter Meeting
LGBT Community Center (Room 300) on 1800 Market Street. This will be the first
meeting since Mayor Gavin Newsom decided to issue marriage licenses to same-sex
couples in San Francisco, so we have plenty to talk about to figure out our next
actions!
Tuesday, March 2nd 7:30pm- Oakland MECA Chapter Meeting Postponed to March 9th - at
World Grounds café - details to follow.
Thursday, March 4th - 10am-1pm Protest Bush in Santa Clara
Come let George Bush know that America does not support his divisive call to harm
gay and lesbian families. Santa Clara Convention Center, 5001 Great America
