--- ANNIVERSARY ANTI-WAR SCREENINGS ---

ONE YEAR LATER:
"WE INTERRUPT THIS EMPIRE..." SCREENS MARCH 18TH
AT THE RED VIC MOVIE HOUSE IN SAN FRANCISCO
screening is in collaboration with Direct Action to Stop the War

On March 20th, 2003, millions globally protested the United States'
invasion of Iraq while tens of thousands shut down San Francisco for three
days. One year later, in solidarity with the upcoming actions against the
ongoing war and occupation of Iraq, WE INTERRUPT THIS EMPIRE... screens
March 18th at 7:15pm and 9:20pm at the Red Vic Movie House in San
Francisco. Speakers from Direct Action to Stop the War and the filmmakers
will be in attendance.

"We Interrupt This Empire..." is a collaborative work by many of the Bay
Area's independent video activists which documents the direct actions that
shut down the
financial district of San Francisco in the weeks following the United
States' invasion of Iraq. With the audio backdrop including the live
broadcasts of SF Indymedia's Enemy Combatant Radio and the SFPD's tactical
communications that were picked up by police scanners, the documentary
takes a look at the diverse show of resistance from the streets of San
Francisco as well as providing a critique of the coporate media coverage
of the war and exploring such issues as the Military Industrial Complex,
attacks on civil liberties, and the United States' current imperialist
drive.

The filmmakers of "WE INTERRUPT THIS EMPIRE..." came together in April
2003 to pool footage and document the historic direct actions of March
20th . The video premiered June 10th, 2003 at the Red Vic Movie House with
four sold-out screenings. It has since played all over the country and
world, proving that there was radical and mass resistance to this illegal
war.

The Red Vic Movie House is located at 1727 Haight Street in San Francisco.
General admission is $6.50.

"This a a clear picture of what's left of an American conscience in the
midst of this national horror-show--this is the best damn doc I've seen on
the local face of what might have been the largest anti-war movement in
world history." -Craig Baldwin
