Marriage Equality Calendar 3/30-4/9

Tuesday, March 30th: SAN FRANCISCO 2:30PM - SF City Hall. Come
celebrate the wedding ceremony of Ray and Charles at their scheduled
appointment time. They intend to go forward with their wedding as
planned on the steps of San Francisco City Hall as a reminder of the
2,588 couples who had appointments to be legally married before the court stepped in.

Marriage Equality California Calendar of San Francisco Bay Area Events
for March 30 - April 9th



Below is a partial list of actions that will be happening in the San
Francisco Bay Area in the next week.

Tuesday, March 30th: SAN FRANCISCO 2:30PM - SF City Hall. Come
celebrate the wedding ceremony of Ray and Charles at their scheduled
appointment time. They intend to go forward with their wedding as
planned on the steps of San Francisco City Hall as a reminder of the
2,588 couples who had appointments to be legally married before the
court stepped in.

Friday, April 2nd: 8:00-9:00 pm and Saturday, April 3rd 9-11am SAN
FRANCISCO Come out and counter demonstrate against the anti-gay rally
sponsored by the Catholic Church in the heart of San Francisco's North
Beach neighborhood. They call the event "Love and Tolerance-Yes (yeah
right) / Same Sex Unions - No." at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, located
at 666 Filbert St at Powell. We will hold signs and candles out in
front to silently protest. Please return the next day from 9am to 11am
to be visible as San Francisco Archbishop William Levada performs an
anti-gay Mass followed by a 10 a.m. prayer rally and processional
through the neighborhood of North Beach. We will follow them and stand
proud during their rally. Clergy and parents are especially encouraged
to attend.

Friday April 2, 2004, 8:30 pm OAKLAND Come join the First Unitarian
Church of Oakland to celebrate Same-Sex Marriage in the East Exhibit
Hall at the Downtown Oakland Marriott Hotel (10th St and Broadway)as
part of the UU Pacific Central District Assembly. There will be a
blessing and wedding reception for the couples who have been married in
San Francisco. All couples and their allies are welcome to attend the
wedding reception and have city council and county representatives share
words of support. This event is free and open to the public.



Saturday April 3, 2004: 2-4pm: OAKLAND Black Communities and Same Sex
Marriage: Where Do We Stand?? A Community Forum Sponsored by SMAAC
Youth Center, BLAQS (Black and Queer at Stanford) Location: SMAAC Youth
Center: 1608 Webster St Oakland CA All are Welcome! There will be a
panel and discussion about how the issues connected to same-sex marriage
and the threat of a constitutional amendment against it will affect LGBT
people in the African-American community. website:

Saturday, April 3rd 5-7pm SAN FRANCISCO - Book Release Party for "Why
You Should Give A Damn About Gay Marriage" with MECA author Davina
Kotulski, PhD The event is $25-$50 sliding scale and includes a signed
copy of the book and light refreshments. Come see the live Newlywed
show and The Dating Game show. Door prizes and surprises galore. GLBT
Center 1800 Market St at Octavia.

Sunday, April 4th 2pm SAN FRANCISCO - Reverend Cecil Williams and his
associate clergy will hold a Celebration of Couples, during which there
will be a blessing of all same-sex couples attending, at GLIDE Church in

Tuesday April 6, 2004 6-8pm - OAKLAND City Council Meeting: City Hall at
Frank Ogawa Plaza in Downtown Oakland. If plan to you to speak during
public forum please arrive at 6:15 pm to complete a speakers card.
Council member Danny Wan to introduce a resolution in support of AB
1967- "Marriage License Non Discrimination Act."



Friday, April 9th: SAN LEANDRO Attend the Adult Prom sponsored by GLBT
youth at the Marina Center, 15301 Wicks Blvd. Tickets are $25. Call

Monday April 12th 12-1pm SAN FRANCISCO - Rally on steps of CA Supreme
Court at 300 McAllister Street (across from SF City Hall) to recognize
the one month anniversary of the court's prevention of same-sex couples
from marrying.

Thursday, April 15th 5:30pm OAKLAND - Tax Day Protest. Mark your
calendars and stay tuned for details. We will be hosting a true Boston
Tea Party!

Sunday May 2, 2004 (start time: 10am) SAN FRANCISCO Speedway Meadow at
Golden Gate Park. Running to the Altar is a 5K run/walk fundraiser for
