"Christian" Fascists Rally for Hate in Seattle

by James Latimer
The ignorance, hatred, and bigotry of right-wing Christians was on full display in Seattle yesterday as several thousand of these assholes gathered together at Safeco field to call for a "Federal Marriage Amendment" banning same-sex marriage.

The ignorance, hatred, and bigotry of right-wing Christians was on full display in Seattle yesterday as several thousand of these assholes gathered together at Safeco field to call for a "Federal Marriage Amendment" banning same-sex marriage.

Ironically, and quite sickeningly, the "pro-family" forces chose May 1st, International Workers Day, a day that is supposed to represent the struggle of all the world's people for justice and liberation, as the date for their anti-gay hate festival. The event was organized by a group calling itself <a href="maydayformarriage.org">Mayday for Marriage, and was headlined by the anti-gay Reichsmarschall for Propaganda, Dr. James Dobson.

At the rally, Dobson, who heads the ultra-conservative organization Focus on the Family, denounced homosexuals for "promiscuity" and said that legalizing gay marriage would make teaching children about homosexuality common. (The implication here, of course, is that children knowing about homosexuality will somehow harm them, something Dobson, nor anyone else, has ever or will ever prove, probably because it's total bullshit.) He declared, "If this [gay marriage] happens, the culture war is over and everything associated with it is lost."

Meanwhile, about 1,500 proponents of gay marriage stood outside, calling for equality and an end to hatred and bigotry.

"Bigots go home!" they shouted, trying to drown out the anti-gay speakers.

The Infernal Noise Brigade provided music for marching and dozens of cars honked their horns in support of the pro-same sex marriage protestors.

Washington can be a really split personality state. While on one side, a large percentage of the WTO protesters were local, and the state and Seattle have an impressive IWW and labor history, the republican party there is capable of being highly extreme and immoderate.
For instance, the republican candidate against their moderate democrat governor Gary Locke was Ellen Craswell, who actually opposes women's right to vote, does things like blaming a bad snowstorm on god's punishment for the state voting for Bill Clinton, and recently jumped ship from the republican party to the American Heritage party. This party's platform states that they find the republicans to be too secular, and need to have biblical values as their first principles. There are some people in the counties bordering canada who are in that party and want to secede from the state. Here is Ellen Craswell's letter to James Dobson about joining the heritage party. She got about 41% of the gubernatorial vote: http://home1.gte.net/paulmc/craswell.htm
And here is the party platform: http://home1.gte.net/paulmc/craswell.htm

Why in the world are these idiots having a hard time understanding that everything they represent is a retro-movement in our nations history, a sucession from cooperation, a primative mindset. Love is not expressed through protests against the good, hate crimes, bigiot comments, or bible throwing. I see love as an extension of our ability to contribute to eachother through our hands and minds. Look at doctors, they are ambasadors of love. they take care of us when we are sick, they explain that which we do not understand, the comfort us, they see to our final preperations. Scientists spend there lives looking for explinations based on the physical laws of this world, and they are paid less than a priest. Now our christian govenment is taking away the tools they need out of blindness, and ignorance. Professors and teachers grade our tests and get on our backs to do well because they want to see us at our best. I was raised a catholic and I am thankfull for my education, including that in religion. Now am no longer a catholic, I guess I can say that I wish not to be part of any religion right now. Christianity now is a congregation of hate that I try to avoid. Its not possible though look at church classes offered to the comunity "making decissions bassed on the bible". I hope none of my fellow scientists or doctors are making choices that affect my person bassed on religion. I want them to use eachother and me to make those choices. Research is so painstaking and tedious however you never know what you will find and whose mom or dad you will help long after your passing. Education is essential to stopping this agression put fourth by many christians. Its NOT all of them. Love one another and leave religion out of it, keep it in your heart if you have it. Make everyday better, it costs to much not too, just look at our president the most evil creature I have come to witness. Thanks for reading and sorry about the misspellings I have very bad dislexia. Take care and have a great day :)

You post a picture of a family (including an infant) and refer to them as #%*holes? What kind of person person are you. I understand that you disagree with people who object to gay marriage (over half the country), but your vitriolic hate-filled ad hominems don't provoke any rational debate. It is absurd to dismiss anyone who objects to gay marriage as "ignorant" (of what I don't know) or fascists (I doubt you know the meaning of the word). Gay marriage has never existed in this country (to any significant government sanctioned scale), so it shouldn't be surprising that some people aren't for it.

Personally, I am an evangelical who has struggled with the gay marriage issue. I find often find the same hate-filled zealotly from the left and the right. Fortunately, there are more rational people in the center who can discuss this issue productively with an open mind. I'd invite you to join us.

They are just frustrated. When common sense has no place in political dialog, people tend to get that way.

So, Robert. I agree with you that the caption was a bit much. But I believe i can answer one of your questions. Ignorant of what? you want to know. Ignorant of the factthat there is no reason to believe that gay marriage will injure straight marriage at all. None.Zip. Zilch. You can't show me proof because not only does it not exist, it's is not even common sense to think so. It is simply irrational fear. That is ignorance. There is no other word for it.

Christian nut-cases, yes, so obviously. There's plenty of those where they came from. This is not news of any meaningful sort.

But what about equally nut-cased religous zealots in Israel, murdering Palestinians by the hour? What about militant rabbis protesting the gay festival in Israel?

What doesn't our Indy press cover this????

>>>" "What about militant rabbis protesting the gay festival in Israel? What doesn't our Indy press cover this????"<<<

Why doesn't the Indy medium cover the horrid treatment gays routinely receive in "Palestine" at the hands of both the PA and Muslims of most walks of life?

>>>"religous zealots in Israel, murdering Palestinians by the hour?"<<<

The only people I see answering to that criterion throughout (the Land of) Israel are the Muslim religious zealots murdering both Palestinian and Israeli Arabs by the hour for "desecrating" the familiy's "honor" or other "offenses" bearing religious consequences in the eyes of those fundies.
by Sefarad
Righto, fanatical settlers, Goldsteiners and their ilk would never kill innocent Palestinians. Such a thing is unheard of in Israel. But then, there are no "Palestinians," right, Critical Wanker? They are unpersons, and there can be no murder, no genocide of unpersons.

I used to be a wanker like you, Critical, but now I am better- visit me online-

I didn't write the previous post.
I see the blatent ignorance of the author who posted this hostile response is obviously a self imposed and self-proclaiming bigot.

It is in ignorance that a person can claim arrogant and obvious fascism against Christians simply because the Christians believe in something.

Isn't arrogant intolerance supposed to be reversed in hopes of people accepting others? Apparently if you hate Christians, then the rule of tolerance is not applicable in this case.

Of course, outside of the blatent dumbed-down knowledge of facts regarding true Christianity, the self imposed and religiously bigotted anti-Christian fascists can't recognize their own hate ... or do they? If they do, then they are themselves hypocrites, and are really the ones guilty of the "fascism" that they claim the Christians are guilty of.

How ironic.

Tolerance is not a measurable standard in the intolerant, is it.
