Crime fighting in San Francisco is a joke -- If you can't find a cop on the day when you are shot or mugged -- it may be because they would go into overtime after days like these.

Isn't it becoming more and more clear what the police are really for?

SF Chronicle says it like it is. Black bloc and "globalization" style protests look ridiculous when aimed at knowledge, science, technology. Maybe you should burn some books while you're at it to erase the "forbidden knowledge"?

Yeah, there are policy shifts needed -- as in every industry. But going out in the streets like lunatics and gyrating at science researchers is absurd and ignorant. Whereas most people are sympathetic with leftist protests against world capital, occupation or war, poverty, or whatever, these fringe protests only show how close-minded and sheltered from the world some left-oriented "scenes" are.

I'm glad that most of the left in San Francisco has utterly ignored these protests. In a city where literally hundreds of thousands have turned out for legitimate leftist demonstrations, it is a true testament to the fringe and obscure nature of the hipster-primitivist camp that only 150 - 200 people turned out for a 6-month-long mobilization.

The protesters (mostly idealistic youth) are not lunatics-- they just do not buy into the vision that the biotech jobs or Health are there for them.

This is all about global corporatism-- want to know who this is really for?

Go visit the the Bohemian Grove, or Crawford Texas.

Just as the Chronicle Reports-- there are booths set up at Moscone extolling the joys of research and production in India.

People should face facts. No sane Biotech business would set up shop in San Francisco-- the last tenuous territory for free speech in this country. It is too expensive here, workers appreciate Unions, we have the most educated urban population in the United States-- and the most Freedom Loving.

Moscone is just a cheap meeting place before they offshore to India, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Shenzen.

Just as SF GATE reports "Feel the Love"-- and goes on to explain: "It's all about BIG BUCKS".

If Newsom, the Biotech-Ass Kissers, and the Corporate sponsors of Biotech really care about curing disease etc. etc.-- WHY DON'T THEY FIGHT FOR UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE in our Benighted country?

Hi, I am working on an organic farm called Glen Valley Organic Farm for the summer. It is co-operatively owned and located near Vancouver, B.C. Canada. Decentraliized, family-owned, small-scale, biologically diverse and local farms are the best system of food production for democratic, egalitarian, non-authoritarian, non-violent (except for all the damn weeds!) and ecologically permanent societies. Two challenges: you gotta work hard, and you don't make too much money.

Anyway, I support those who have the courage to demonstrate against the Biotechnology industry conference in San Francisco. I feel they are using "science for manipulation" to try and commodify and control the agriculture system.

One final point, people who post critical comments to the Indymedia should try to make their criticisms constructive instead of based on prejudice against the "left"(whatever that means.), the "black bloc", or "fringe movements" etc. etc.
You discredit the whole purpose of open publishing media, which is to have intelligent debate among antagonists.
