Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez wins referendum on his mandate
CARACAS -- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez won a referendum on his mandate, with over 58 percent of the vote, electoral authorities announced, delivering a crushing defeat to the opposition.

With most ballots counted, 58.25 percent of the electorate voted for Chavez to remain in office and 41.74 percent voted for his mandate to be revoked, said Francisco Carrasquero, president of the National Electoral Council (CNE).

Donald Macintyre in Najaf
16 August 2004

NAJAF, Iraq -- Democracy was a long way from Najaf yesterday. As fighting resumed in the Shia holy city, Iyad Allawi's government moved to impose an authoritarian media clampdown before any full-scale assault on the holy sites which insurgents have made their base.

Super! Another Fidel. Give him a year and will turn Venezuela into another third world shit hole. Viva la revolucion.
by why...
You be a red baitah boy! Yessiree, I hear redneck talk whenever I see the tag of sfres (friend to the protestwarrior).

You know, you might find yourself more comfortable in Fresno or some place like that. I believe we're going to have to start a fund for the relocation of displaced rednecks. Did you make a wrong turn on the interstate or something?

Not surprisingly, the above poster said nothing about what I posted. Listen, ad hominem attacks on me are irrelevant. Venezuela will now sink into totalitariansim unless Chavez is stopped. You honestly believe the election was fair? Why, because Carter said so? Please. When and if the votes are manually counted, I imagine the massive vote fraud will be exposed. Perhaps you should make an effort to read news sources other than Indybay.
by sfres is very busy
On many threads you see sfres making inflammatory comments with no basis in fact. It doesn't really matter what the topic is, sfres is there trolling.

Still trying to figure if sfres has made it out of high school yet or is just another one of those protest warrior idiots.

Observer,

True enough, sfres tries hard. Problem is, sfres merely issues unsubstantiated statements of little worth, other than
comic relief!

I get a kick out of reading the efforts of rightwing wage slaves too ignorant to realize that is they themselves they are attacking when they attempt to serve the interests of the oligarch.

No matter.

A "safe village" for them all will do nicely.

Fresno sounds good at first glance, but then, there are so many decent folks living there and I for one don´t want to have to field their "bitching", or "bastarding" (well why not?) the fact that we "ruined their neighborhood", do you?

Sending sfres to Fresno wouldn't be fair to the fine people of Fresno. sfres can be entertaining, I agree!
