On October 20, the International Caravan for Justice will travel across the
United States and Mexico to fight for justice for the women in Juarez and
Chihuahua. Almost 400 young women have been murdered in these two border
cities over the past decade. Half work in maquiladoras opened in Mexico
under the North American Free Trade Agreement. Government and police
officials are inadequately investigating the growing number of deaths, while
maquiladora owners refuse to acknowledge their responsibility for safety
measures. The International Caravan for Justice in Juarez and Chihuahua will
raise consciousness about conditions faced by women along the border. The
caravan is organized by: Justicia Para Nuestras Hijas (Juarez and
Chihuahua), Nuestas Hijas de Regreso a Casa (Juarez), Centro de Estudios y
Taller Laboral (Juarez), Casa Amiga (Juarez), Comision Mexicana de Defensa y
Promocion de los Derechos Humanos (Mexico City), Amigos de las Mujeres de
Juarez (Las Cruces, NM), Amnesty International USA and the Mexico Solidarity
Network (US).
Join us to at the September 2nd meeting to help host the San Francisco
caravan stop and help spread the word about the October 24th event! For
