Another homeless brother dies under a freeway

On Tuesday, November 30, 2004 Anthony Lucero died in a fire under the I-80 Central Ave overpass in Richmond, CA.
On Tuesday, November 30, 2004 Anthony Lucero died in a fire under the I-80 Central Ave overpass in Richmond, CA. The police and fire department were called at 8:00 pm. Tony was declared dead at the scene. The police were investigating the scene as a homicide.

Tony 's body lay at the edge of . a small brush fire 10~12 feet in diameter that was quickly extinguished by the fire department. He was lying in an area close to the streetlights by the freeway exit ramp. A fence surrounded the entire area below the overpass.

Tony was a slender 54 year old man with Mexican and Italian roots. He was a Vietnam veteran. During the 90's, Tony worked as a clerk and sometimes as a supervisor for the US Postal service. He was separated from his wife and daughter who lived in Arizona. He is survived by a sister living in Northern California. Tony was well liked and will be sadly missed by his many friends.
