Future of Food Showing Set for March 31

by Dan Bacher (danielbacher [at] hotmail.com)
Organic Sacramento tentatively plans to show "The Future of Food" at the Crest Theatre on March 31, 2005. The next meeting of the group will be on January 3.
Greetings to everyone,

Just a quick note to wish everyone a very wonderful Christmas, and an
especially special New Year's !! Organic Sacramento is on the fast track
again, working to pin down a community showing of the moving "The Future
of Food" at the Crest Theatre, hopefully on March 31, 2005. This will
hopefully entail a pre-display by local businesses of the organic products
they make and/or sell, and be followed by a panel discussion, with the
producer, Deborah Garcia, present. If all goes well, it looks like it
will be a really wonderful event. While we are hoping to do a fund-raiser
in the meantime, we may have to be beating the bushes for some
donations/loans, at least to foot the upfront cost of the deposit, which
is $700 (the total cost to rent is $1500). Anyway, there is a lot of
activity up ahead, but I think this will have a significant impact (the
Crest can hold up to 900 people), if we can pull it off. (GE-Free Yolo is
also planning a major showing of the film the following evening, April 1,
2005, in order to help raise awareness in the Davis/Yolo area.) Anyway,
we can definitely use all the help we can get in order to make these
upcoming events successful, so I hope those interested will let us know
what they would like, or be willing, to do. Our next meeting is going to
be on Monday, January 3, 2005 at the Stockton Blvd. Resource Center, 5625
Stockton Blvd. (S.E. corner of Stockton and Fruitridge in the Fruitridge
Shopping Center). We would love to have you join us, and appreciate your
continued interest in Organic Sacramento.

Sincerely,

Kim Glazzard
