Restaurant workers speak out on KPFA's morning show
Tune into KPFA at 94.1 FM (or at http://www.kpfa.org) from 8:08-8:28am, Pacific time, Wednesday and Friday or listen to archives of the whole weeks worth of shows on KPFA's website.
This week, Jan 10, 11, 12 and 14th, David Bacon's Labor Report on
KPFA's Morning Show airs a special series on restaurant workers in
San Francisco. Each morning listeners will get another slice of
restaurant life:
- a young worker fighting sexual harrassment at Lori's Diner,
- more young people describing how hard it is surviving on restaurant wages,
- immigrants from Mexico and China explaining the special rules
(like no paychecks) some owners have for them, and
- members of Young Workers United and the Chinese Progressive
Association telling the story of their efforts to get the law
enforced at the Cheesecake Factory and King Tin restaurants.
You thought restaurant work was a good job? Well, think again. Next
week you can hear what it's really like, putting food on the table in
San Francisco restaurants, from the people who do the work.
Tune into KPFA at 94.1 FM (or at http://www.kpfa.org) from 8:08-8:28am,
Pacific time, everyday next week (except Thursday) to find out.
