Egypt urges Israel to negotiate

by BBC (reposted)
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has called on Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to resume contacts with the new Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
Mr Sharon refuses to meet Mr Abbas before he moves against militant groups who killed six Israelis on Thursday.

Mr Mubarak said that Israel should not react to acts of violence by freezing contacts with the Palestinians.

He said experience showed that it was not possible to insist all violence should stop before talks could start.

The Egyptian government has been hoping that the change in the Palestinian leadership following the death of Yasser Arafat would revive peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.

'Hasty' move

Mr Mubarak argued that if conditions were to improve for the Palestinian people, "they will themselves call for violence to stop".

He urged the Israeli prime minister to "continue the peace process and negotiate" with the Palestinians.

Criticism of Mr Sharon also came from the Egyptian intelligence chief Omar Suleiman.

A key negotiator with Israel, he is reported to have said that Mr Sharon had been hasty in his decision to freeze all contacts with the Palestinian Authority.

These remarks came as Egyptian officials prepared to receive an Israeli envoy who had come seeking Egyptian pressure on the Palestinians to curb militant attacks.

Egyptian-Israeli relations have warmed in recent weeks.

It is largely a reflection of Cairo's hope that Arafat's passing created an opportunity for a fresh start in Middle East peacemaking.

Egyptians, however, like most Arabs, remain sceptical.

To many in the region, Israel's decision to suspend contacts with the new Palestinian leader even before he was sworn in was proof that it is not serious about the quest for peace.

New orders by Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon for the military to crush "militants" in the Gaza Strip will only serve to further undermine the peace process, Palestinian foreign minister Nabil Sha'ath warned.

"This policy will not serve the peace process and I ask the Israeli people to reject this Sharon policy," Sha'ath told reporters Sunday after a meeting with his Japanese counterpart Nobutaka Machimura in the West Bank city of Ramallah.

Sharon told the weekly cabinet meeting he had given the army "carte blanche" to act against the "militant groups", accusing the new Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas of not lifting a finger against the likes of Hamas despite his codemnation of the armed intifada.

Sha'ath said Abbas would head to Gaza on Wednesday for talks with the leaders of the armed factions in a bid to convince them to sign up to a ceasefire. He had previously announced that Abbas would head there on Monday.

"We are ready and our president Abu Mazen is ready for peace. He will go to Gaza to meet with Hamas and Jihad and all the leaders to discuss with them about a ceasefire and to try and reach an agreement with them about this."

Sha'ath contrasted Abbas' stated desire to end the cycle of Israeli-Palestinian violence with Sharon's order to step up military activity. "Abu Mazen is ready to continue the peace process and increase his efforts to succeed in the peace porcess and go back to negotiations but it is clear for us that Sharon is ready to increase the killing and demolitions," he said.

Meanwhile, Egypt's intelligence chief criticized Sharon on Sunday for cutting off contacts with Abbas to protest Palestinian attacks, a senior Israeli official said. Jacob Dayan, a senior adviser to Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom, said Egyptian intelligence chief Omar Suleiman told him and Foreign Ministry Director General Ron Prosor during a Sunday meeting in Cairo that Sharon had moved too quickly in cutting ties with Abbas. "(He) certainly said that we have to give Abu Mazen more time in order to act," Dayan told Israel Army Radio.

How true, How true....

Already the death toll for the Palestinians is at least 3 times greater then the Israelis.

Already there are over 600 Palestinians children dead as compared to over 100 Israeli children dead....

So to end the fueling of the tit for tat in this conflict we need to go ahead and allow the Palestinian State called for in the Road Map, in that way there can be real reason for the conflict to end......Once this has occurred both sides can go after terrorists, they will no longer be freedom fighters once the Palestinian People have their freedom.

For there to be Peace and for there to be a reason for the Palestinian People to stop their fight for Freedom:
We need a Palestinian State with Reasonable Border NOW, If the Road Map that is backed by the U.S., U.N., E.U., and Russia is to work...
Send in a Joint, U.S., U.N. Peace keeping Force to the West Bank and Gaza for the sole purpose of trying to avoid conflicts between the Palestinian and the settlers.
Then have the Biased (biased because they will always be on the side of the settlers) Israeli Military retreat to the pre 1967 Israeli Borders, They can then concentrate their effort on guarding this Border..

Example of a possible solution: SET THE BORDERS BACK TO 1967...
In return the Refugees have “no Right of Return inside the 1967 Israeli Borders”.
One complaint that Israel has is that the Right of Return will result in two Palestinian States, (The Right of return is almost impossible any way because the land and homes they lost are now built up with Jewish homes businesses etc…)
The Refugees can be compensated and helped to settle somewhere in the new Palestinian State..
The Settlements are now part of Palestine...removing them is an almost undoable task…..
If the some 400,000 Israeli Settlers living in Palestine do not like living there, they can move to Israel...
If the 1,200,000 or so Palestinians who now live in Israel do not like living in Israel, they can move to Palestine...
If 1,200,000 or so Palestinians can live in Israel, then some 400,000 Israeli Settlers can live in Palestine if they choose to stay..
If you take Israel, West Bank and Gaza, West Bank and Gaza is only 22% of the total area in Question, This small amount is not too much to ask for millions of Palestinians who must have their freedom to have a peaceful life.
If this solution was implemented there is a good chance the so called terrorist (seen as freedom fighters by the oppressed Palestinian People) would stop their fight, if not they would be very foolish because then Israel would have a just cause to fight back and the U.S. would have a just cause to help Israel fight back.
Otherwise we will continue to have:
Israel: We have to confiscate Palestinian land and demolish Palestinian homes because there are suicide bombers???
Palestine: We have to defend ourselves because Israel is slowly confiscating all our land and demolishing our homes. We have no military to defend ourselves and our land. If we do nothing, we will soon have nothing at all???
The era of colonization is past,. We can not expect to oppress millions of Palestinian People and still have peace.

We don't have to forget that the Palestinians are committing terrorist attacks. And do you think Abbas is willing to stop them?

How delusive, How delusive....

Already the death toll for the innocent Israelis is at least 3 times greater then the Palestinian.

Already there are over 100 innocent Israeli children dead as compared to over 600 mostly not innocent Palestinian children dead ....

So to end the fueling of the tit for tat in this Conflict we need to go ahead but not allow the Palestinian State called for in the Road Map soon, in that way there can be real reason for the Conflict to end......Before this occurs, the Palestinian side must go after terrorists, the Palestinian People can not have their freedom until there will no longer be so called freedom fighters.

For there to be Peace there must be a way of teaching the Palestinian People not to be crazed idiots.
We need a Palestinian State with Reasonable Borders, unless the Palestinians continue to worship Hamas murderers, then they deserve nothing but a One Way ticket to Jordan, Syria or Lebanon. NOW, If the Road Map that is backed by the U.S., U.N., E.U., and Russia is to work...
Send in a Joint, U.S., U.N. Peace keeping Force to the West Bank and Gaza for the sole purpose of trying to avoid conflicts between the Palestinian and the settlers..
In return, the Palestinian Refugees, who are still refugees because the Arab countries and even Arafat have kept them so, have no Right of Return inside the 1967 Israeli Borders...
One complaint that Israel has is that the Right of Return will result in two Palestinian States, which is true, and that's why it is a ridiculous thing to suggest. Also, since jews don't get a right of return to Arab countries that took their land, why would Jews be asked to do it, especially after all the wars against the Jews?
The Right of Return is almost impossible anyway because the land and homes they lost are now built up with Jewish homes businesses etc…
The Refugees can be helped to settle somewhere in the new Palestinian State..
The Settlements are now part of Palestine...
If the some 400,000 Israeli Settlers living in Palestine do not like living there, they can move to Israel...
If the 1,000,000 or so Palestinians who now live in Israel do not like living in Israel, they can move to Palestine...
If 1,000,000 or so Palestinians can live in Israel, then some 400,000 Israeli Settlers can live in Palestine if they choose to stay...
If this solution were implemented there is a good chance the Palestinian Terrorists (seen as freedom fighters by the Palestinians) who think it is impressive to murder innocent Jewish people would probably keep right on attacking, since they are rabid lunatics, but at least maybe some nice Palestinians might finally speak out against them.
Until the Palestinians cease ther terror we will continue to have:
Israel: We have to confiscate Palestinian Land and demolish Palestinian Homes because we have given these people tons of chances to make an agreement but the Palestinains are the dumbest people on earth.
Palestine: We have to defend ourselves because we are too stupid to realize that Israel isn't going to disappear, and attacking Israel does not help us. Even dogs and cats learn not to do things that hurt them, so why do Palestinians insist on attacking Israel when they know all it will do is prevent Israel from being able to trust them with Land Control???
The era of terror is past, We can not expect to terrorize millions of Jewish People and still have peace.
