Meeting to Discuss Park Ordinance & Other Community Events

by Dan Bacher (danielbacher [at] hotmail.com)
Here's a list of community events from Faye Kennedy, Sacramento Area Black Caucus. This is a real busy week, as you can see.
Wednesday, February 9: Meeting to discuss: City of Sacramento’s Parade and Park Ordinance. The City of Sacramento’s Neighborhood Services will host a follow-up community meeting to discuss changes to the Parade and Park Ordinance. The community meeting is on Wednesday, February 9 from 6-7:30 pm at City Hall (730 I t.) in Sacramento. As per City Council direction, city staff would like to talk with interested people about developing a list of prohibited weapons that cannot be carried in a parade. We will then be preparing a staff report to the Law and Legislative Committee of the City Council." What this means is that they want to involve us at the beginning of the process, as we requested, rather than at the end. Please come to this meeting and tell them what you think needs to be prohibited in parades. The issue is going to be how to define the word "weapon". If you have access to media, it would be great if this "community meeting" were to be made known to the community. We don't have much time. There is free street parking after 6:00pm. If you have any questions for the people organizing this please contact either Gary Little at (916) 566-6524, or Gary Ziegenfuss at (916) 277-6162. If you have other types of questions you can call Heidi McLean at (916) 456-9435.
