The fight against pesticide use in Oakland continues:
Two versions of the ordinance to use herbicides in the
prevention of wildfires are scheduled to go before the
Oakland City Council next Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at
7pm (6pm to get seats, and sign up to speak). Please
check back with us for updates, as city agendas have
been know to change with little notice. Also for more
details please visit eastbaypesticidealert.org to look
at the different versions by Jean Quan and Nancy
Nadel. They both continue to call for the use of
pesticides, and as such we urge everyone to oppose
them both.
A fax campaign by Local Impact has been targeting
various councilmembers, asking them to vote against
the proposed ordinance. Its final target this week is
Ignacio de la Fuente, who says he is still undecided
on the issue, and will make up his mind at the meeting
on Tuesday. Please take a moment and send off a free
fax directly from TAKE ACTION

Thank you so much.
