IPOD's and other Mac products are purposefully designed with batteries that degenerate after 18-24 months. This is not only an insult to consumers, these batteries are very hazardous to the environment. They are filled with mercury and lead and often wind up in landfills in third world countries. While other industry leaders have signed on to responsible takeback programs, Apple has been lobbying against legislation requiring such programs across the country. Join Clean Water Action for some direct action outside the SF Mac store on Thursday from 1-3pm. Wear costumes and bring banners, we can make Mac think different!
