Come Declare CAFTA Dead!
On the anniversary of its signing, join the Bay Area Stop-CAFTA Coalition for a Celebratory Rally, Commemorating the
“Death of CAFTA and the Birth of a New Era in U.S. Trade Policy.”

May 26
12 Noon
Federal Building
450 Golden Gate Avenue, S.F.

The Bay Area Stop-CAFTA Coalition invites you to a rally and speaking event in front of the Federal Building to celebrate one year of successful resistance to the Central American Free Trade Agreement. After one whole year, the Republican-controlled Congress has not been able to pass CAFTA into law. Never before has a trade agreement sat dormant for so long. Normally trade votes in Congress are held within months of when the President signs them, but Saturday May 28th marks CAFTA’s one year Birthday. This anniversary is a clear indicator that the Bush Administration is unable to pass NAFTA’s closest relative due to bi-partisan opposition. The White House faces nearly insurmountable odds as more than 165 Members of the House are opposed to the agreement,.

Opposition to CAFTA is proof that Democrats and Republicans, rich and poor, and peoples from the North and South have had their fill of this free trade model. The time has come for fair and honest trade agreements. CAFTA is dead, and its failure marks an essential step in the birth of a new era of globalization.

Please join us to represent the Bay Area’s opposition to CAFTA and to support fair trade agreements that benefit local communities in both the U.S. and Latin America.

Please bring children, puppets, signs, posters, banners, social movement flags, or anything else you think would help to send a message against free trade and in support of Fair Trade!!
