Join us at a Vigil in Marin!

Marin Vigils for Cindy Sheehan
Wednesday, August 17, 2005, see details below
Cindy Sheehan, mother of Army Specialist Casey Sheehan who was killed
in Iraq, continues her vigil outside President Bush’s ranch in
Crawford, Texas. She was recently joined by more moms who lost a child
in Iraq and other military families. Meanwhile President Bush continues
his five-week vacation and pledged Thursday to keep U.S. troops in
Iraq—meaning more moms will lose a child.
Cindy has asked supporters to start candlelight vigils in their
communities to support her and call for an end to the war. Our vigils
will be simple and dignified. Together, we'll acknowledge the
sacrifices made by Cindy Sheehan, her son, Casey and the more than
1,800 brave American men and women who have given their lives in
Iraq—and their moms and families.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 19
MARIN'S HIGH SCHOOL
COUNTER RECRUITING CAMPAIGN
Your help is needed!
The Leave My Child Alone! counter-recruiting campaign helps parents
protect their children from predatory Pentagon military recruiters and
to help citizens urge their school boards and superintendents to adopt
sane opt out policies. Informing student and their parents about their
rights to opt-out of the recruiters “CONTACT” list is key to protecting
our children from unscrupulous recruiting tactics. This Friday you are
needed to help distribute opt-out forms to high school student as they
leave their schools. These actions are taking place at the following
Marin High Schools: Tamaplias, Drake and San Rafael. Please show up
between 2:45 and 3 p.m. to hand out these forms. Organizers will be
present with the material.
