NCLR Call to Action
ON THE VERGE OF HISTORY — WE NEED YOU NOW!
September 6, 2005
Today
is one of the most important days in the
history of the LGBT community's fight for equality.
The California Assembly is on the verge of passing
AB
849, the Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage
Protection Act, sponsored by our partner
organization, Equality California. This vote could
occur today or tomorrow.
The state Senate voted in favor of marriage equality
last week, and now the state Assembly must be
encouraged to follow its lead.
* Please CALL the legislators listed below TODAY!
* Please ASK your friends and family to do the
same.
Polls this week show that likely California voters are
split 46% to 46% on their support of marriage
equality! Let's show them that we are unstoppable.
When you call, please feel free to use this script:
"This week's vote on AB 849 is one of the most
important votes that Assemblymember [insert name]
will ever cast. Please let him/her know that I hope
he/she will stand on the right side of history by
supporting AB 849."
