Only two days left to help bring California's National Guard Home

by Action Alert from CodePink
We have only two days to get it out on the floor and passed by the full Assembly
before they adjourn for the year on Friday.

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, there is a new understanding of the need for our
states' National Guard to be home protecting its citizens from natural disasters.
Here in California, this is a campaign we can win, but we need your help right away.

Assemblywoman Loni Hancock's Resolution to Bring Home our National Guard (AJR36) is
now "In Committee"

We have only two days to get it out on the floor and passed by the full Assembly
before they adjourn for the year on Friday.

Here's what you can do:

1) CALL State Assembly persons TODAY Wednesday (see list of names & numbers below)
Ask to speak with the assembly person or Chief of Staff. Tell them that we
Californians need our National Guard at home, protecting us from disasters such as
the one we are witnessing in New Orleans. Ask to vote "YES" on AJR36 and to help
make sure this vote takes place before adjournment

2) CALL Assembly member Cindy Montanez, chair of the Rules Committee, at
916-319-2039 and urge her to release AJR36 for a full vote. As Chair of the
committee, she has the authority to move this bill to the floor.

3) COME to Sacramento Tomorrow, Thursday, 8a.m-noon to Lobby and join our Press
Conference. We need a large, vibrant PINK presence! Here is our schedule:

8:00-10:00a.m. Speak out and lobby Assembly People

10:30a.m. Press Conference

11:00-noon Gather in Assembly Chambers & on capitol grounds

THANK YOU for all your help!

With hope,
CodePINK National Guard Working Group
