A bill to increase the wages of California's lowest-paid workers
is sitting on Governor Schwarzenegger's desk. Assembly Bill 48
(Lieber) would increase our minimum wage by $1 over two years
and then adjust it annually for increases in the cost of living.
AB 48 was passed by the state Legislature with bipartisan
support.
However, big business opposes the bill. The California
Restaurant Association and the California Chamber of Commerce
have lobbied the Governor to veto an increase in the minimum
wage. They have donated thousands of dollars to Schwarzenegger's
political campaigns this year.
Please take a minute now to send a message to the Governor and
ask him to stand up to corporate interests and sign AB 48.
Schwarzenegger has thirty days to sign or veto the bill, but
could take action at any time so act now! To send a message go
