VICTORY: Prop 73 DEFEATED!

Throughout this hard-fought campaign volunteers and activists like you rose to the challenge and got our teen safety message out to tens of thousands of voters across the state. Volunteers made over 40,000 phone calls, knocked on countless doors and ultimately turned out the vote that led us to victory.

From the entire Campaign for Teen Safety team: Thank You!

The Campaign for Teen Safety's mission, from day one, was to protect California's teens. When voters rejected Prop 73 they reaffirmed that laws cannot mandate family communication and that Prop 73 would put the health and safety of California's teens at risk. Voters rejected sending teens back to the back alleys and re-debating a woman's right to choose.

But we're not done.

We know that the proponents of Prop 73 have never limited their agenda to parental notification. Their expressed goals are to outlaw abortion, sex education and most forms of contraception. The 2005 Special Election is over, but the struggle to protect our privacy and freedom will only intensify as proponents undoubtedly take this fight to other states.

Californians took a stand on Election Day -- a stand that could turn the tide in this calculated effort to pick away at the right of every woman to choose.

Thank you all for all your efforts and the enormous part you've played in winning this fight and building such a vibrant community. We would not have won without your commitment and dedication!
