Viva!USA is proud to announce the launch of our new website, www.vivaturkeys.com, in time for the holidays. The website provides information on the miserable lives turkeys are forced to endure, including intense confinement, de-beaking, and health problems caused by their rapid growth.

Even more horrific, to prevent stress-induced fighting, many turkeys have their toes amputated with surgical scissors or an electric "debeaker." Some even have their toes microwaved!

To raise awareness about these shocking practices, Viva!USA recruited Heather Mills McCartney to do a short Public Service Announcement for the holiday season.

We want this widely distributed to reach the largest audience possible! You can help by contacting us for a copy to share with your local TV station.

The website also provides resources for those choosing a cruelty-free holiday meal, with veggie recipes and alternatives to traditional holiday fare. In addition to recommending turkey alternatives, the site includes suggestions for holiday soups, side dishes and, of course, desserts!
There is even a section of Mexican holiday recipes with more to come.

The holidays should be a time to give thanks and enjoy time with family and friends. It's ironic that these happy times should be represented by the torture and death of the millions of turkeys that end up on holiday dinner plates.

This holiday season, encourage your family, friends and community to give thanks with reverence and compassion for life!
