Candidate Filing Deadline is March 10
Last day to file for offices on the June 6, 2006 ballot is 5 p.m., Friday, March 10. If the incumbent does not file, the deadline is extended to 5 p.m., Wednesday, March 15.
The last day for candidates to file candidacy papers to run for any of the federal, state and local seats up for election on June 6, 2006 is 5 p.m. Friday, March 10.
If, however, the incumbent for any office who is eligible to stand for re-election does not file by Friday, the filing will be extended until 5 p.m. March 15 for anyone other than the incumbent to file.
Offices on the June ballot include:
· U.S. Senate
· 14th and 17th Congressional Districts;
· 27th and 28th Assembly Districts;
· State Board of Equalization, 1st District;
· Governor;
· Lieutenant Governor;
· Secretary of State;
· Controller;
· Treasurer;
· Attorney General;
· Insurance Commissioner;
· State Superintendent of Public Instruction;
· County Supervisors in the 3rd and 4th Districts;
· 2 Superior Court Judges;
· Assessor-Recorder;
· Auditor-Controller;
· County Clerk;
· Treasurer-Tax Collector;
· County Superintendent of Schools;
· District Attorney-Public Administrator;
· Sheriff-Coroner;
· Democratic, Republican, Green, and American Independent Party County Central Committees or County Council in each Supervisorial District;
· Peace and Freedom and Natural Law Party County Central Committees.
All offices, except for Party Central Committees or County Councils, must satisfy the filing fee before receiving their nomination petition. The next step is to secure the required number of valid signatures to support placing your name on the ballot for the office sought. The final step is completing a Declaration of Candidacy along with the optional Candidate’s Statement of Qualifications to be published in the Voter’s Information Pamphlet.
