HR4437 Protest in Holister

by Itai (itai450 [at] yahoo.com)
A crowd of Demonstrators marched through the streets of Hollister on Monday, April 11th in response to the new legislation that is being passed in the federal government. The Crowd numbered 200+ people marching for a mile through town picking up momentum and people as they marched through the street to the Veterans memorial building in Downtown Hollister. Once all of the demonstrators reached the Veterans Building, members of the community took the microphone to voice their opposition to the HR4437 legislation. All of the speakers spoke about how they, there friends, and family members would like to be treated with dignity for the vital jobs that they do from working in the fields, working in restaurants, as well as the hospitality business. The protestors stated that they were not criminals and did not deserve to be treated as felons for doing the jobs that help the American economy function. The last speaker at the protest stated that MAY 1st will be a day of action for the immigrants across the country to stay home from work and demonstrate how the United States would run without the labor of “Illegal” Immigrants. The protest was very orderly and there were no incidents with the police.

are there any plans for may 1st actions in the santa cruz area? i certainly hope so...
I hate to break it to you, but without illegal immigrants, companies would have to get real and pay living wages. So, all in all, not a bad thing for workers.

hey truth,
a) not a bad thing for workers WHERE?
b) what makes you think those companies would "get real" and not exploit you instead?

A living wage *is* exploitation. All wage labor is exploitation. Death to capitalism.
