San Jose, CA (May 12, 2006) – Neighborhood Housing Services Silicon Valley (NHSSV) will host the Bay Area’s most important resources in affordable housing at the Affordable Housing Fair on May 13-14, 2006 at the Berryessa Flea Market in San Jose. The Fair will take place from 12 pm to 5 pm on each day and is free to the public.
Participating in the event will be non-profit and government housing agencies. Bay Area housing experts will be available on-site to provide attendees with information in areas including first time homebuyer programs, rental assistance programs, and disabled housing and homeless services.
The Affordable Housing Fair Event will launch this year’s Affordable Housing Week (AHW) weeklong series of events. Affordable Housing Week events are held throughout the Bay Area to promote awareness of challenges faced by Bay Area communities and residents in an ever-tightening housing market. According to NHSSV Community Relations Program Manager, Jaime Angulo, “The Affordable Housing Fair helps highlight the week long series of Affordable Housing Week events which sometimes goes unnoticed by the public.”
NHSSV Community Outreach Specialist, Cecilia Rios, said, “Affordability in Silicon Valley is one of the biggest issues facing low- to medium income residents. We expect to attract families and individuals from all income groups interested in accessing affordable housing programs and resources. We encourage anyone interested in affordable housing to visit the Fair and to take part in any of the Affordable Housing Week events,” she said.
For more information about the Affordable Housing Fair, contact Cecilia Rios (408) 279-2600 Ext. 245 or visit http://www.affordablehousingweek.org.
