Transit service reduction in marin county and social justice

by Salamander
Transit service reduction in marin county and social justice
In Marin county bus service was cut several years ago, core transbay and local service used by transit dependents including reverse commute service for transit dependent San Francisco residents was reduced. This included reducing most late night service on routes 10,20,23,50 and some service on route 80. This happened while high cost ferry and commute bus service to San Francisco for wealthy mainly white people was maintained, but while also reduced. Now Marin transit is reducing night service on route 23, eliminating night service to Mill Valley and Tiburon every day and eliminating night service to San Anselmo and Corte Madera on route 22 on weekends, while still maintaining ( with Golden Gate transit) ferry service and commute service to San Francisco for wealthy mainly white people. If these service cuts go thru in September, it is likely that the lawsuit against the MTC will be applied to Marin county. It is critical that Marin County maintain current levels of service span seven days a week on these routes and in these areas, and begin to restore service and span on mainline routes reduced several years ago. Transit users need to act NOW and contact Marin county transit, and SF board of Supervisors.
