Update on the Hartnell Strike in Salinas

by Solidarity Sister
Hartnell faculty members have been negotiating with administration for over two years and have exhausted all of their options. The teachers in Oaxaca have set a strong example --- let's show the teachers at Hartnell some solidarity!
THE STRIKE IS ON...and going strong!!!

5:30AM to 8:30PM daily

This strike is sanctioned by the
Monterey Bay Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO.

Why are the teachers striking?
- They have exhausted all options and now have no other recourse but to strike.
- They have been bargaining for more than two years. It’s stand they must take.
- Their salaries are at or near the bottom of all faculty in the CA community colleges -
and this is one of the highest cost of living regions in the state.
- The college president’s $224,000 salary ranks near the very top of all CA community colleges
(more than the Vice President of the United States) - and his salary reflects an astounding 82% increase in the last six years!
