On March 2, 2007, hundreds of people marched from 16th and Mission to the Federal Building, where there was a spirited rally; Meanwhile, 18 community leaders, people of faith, and labor leaders met with Nancy Pelosi's office, and when her office's response to community concerns and demands was insufficient, they sat in and were arrested.

On March 2, 2007, topping off a week of actions for immigrant justice, hundreds of people marched from 16th and Mission in the sunny Mission District to rally in the chilly shadow cast by the Federal Building.

The week of actions was called in response to outrageous raids conducted in the bay area by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, known as ICE. ICE is the agency that resulted when the Department of Homeland Security enfolded the INS. Whatever they call themselves, they are still la migra!

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, rallies were held at the offices of ICE, and on Friday, hundreds of people converged to march. the weather was unseasonably warm and sunny, and people from many different immigrant justice organizations and communities represented.
