It's so good to see the circus within us rise up to express and hold the space for something so important and essential. Don't let them get you down! That's some impressive action on that 2-string guitar, and a really well orchestrated pot and pan band, by the way. Hurray for Homes not Jails!
I hope someone posts video or photos from what happened next. Are there interviews with the occupants of the buildings? How was the portrayal in the mass media? The audio is great on Rez's report (and I love the "Yuppie Yuppie, Bad Bad Bad/Yuppie Yuppie, Ya Stole My Pad" song), but there doesn't seem to be anything about what happened to the people occupying the building.

Thank you for your support. The only extensive interview with an occupier that I am aware of is the one I did with KPOO radio today on "Renter's Radio." Perhaps through their website you would be able to listen to the interview. Channel 11 did a good story on their nightly news. I heard Telemundo 14 (?) did a story but I did not see it. Beyond Chron and the Gray Panthers of San Francisco did on-line stories. Unfortunately, real estate speculators and advertisers for major media outlets are close neighbors, so press is always tough to get even on a good day. As to those of us who were in the building, the police officer in charge made us an offer: leave now or go to jail on felony charges. We asked for a couple minutes in private to consult with each other. After discussing the matter, someone proposed that we leave, and the proposition was not blocked nor did anyone abstain. Homes Not Jails uses a consensus process for decision making along with it's commitment to non-violent, civil disobedient direct action.
