how is that possible? is that not like being pro russia and pro peace?
by santa cruzan
it's their latest favorite slogan. Here at UCSC, they table with a big peace sign.. next to an Israeli flag. There's even a group called 'Scholars for Peace in the Middle East' - a bunch of ultra-Zionists who bring in racist speakers (like Daniel Pipes, Melanie Phillips, etc.) to campus.

But hey.. you know.. its the peace = silence approach, as offered up by a UC Regents when students disrupted their meeting on managing the nuclear labs... or.. in this case.. peace = no Palestinian resistance.

It may seem far fetched now, but think about the 'Support Our Troops' slogan. I bet there was a time where if you used it in a pro-war manner you would have been laughed at.

How is it possible?
Thats easy.
You can love America and not love the American government.
You can love America and not love this war.
You can love Israel but not love what Israel is doing.
A banner for Peace is raised and in response you call for "resistance"?! This is the slogan of Islamic Extremists for terrorism and war even against Palestinians. Where is "resistance" when Palestinians are slaughtered by Hamas in Gaza or Lebanese children are used as human shields by Hezbollah? Don't hide behind the rhetoric of "resistance" to pretend you care about Palestinians or Palestine. Peace for Israel includes peace for Palestine. Those who support "resistance" reject the 2-state solution and want only to destroy Israel, with no care about the future of Palestine or its children.
by just peace
Most Americans and most Israelis are in favor of a two state solution, with a safe and viable Palestinian state living peacefully, side by side with a safe and viable Israel.
Unfortunately, Hamas and Hezbollah both support the destruction of Israel. Perhaps if the people lead, the leaders will follow. We need to encourage the Palestinian people to follow the path of peace. After the Hamas sponsored bombing of the international school and the firebombing of over 25 Internet cafes, perhaps the Palestian people will realize the path of Hamas is not the path to follow

If by "resistance" you mean non-violent protest, then maybe your cause has a chance. But the Palestinians' choice to use bombings, killings, and missiles, has never worked and never will. Why should the Palestinians expect Israel and the community of nations to welcome them when the Palestinians are already proving to be such bad neighbors?
by organization?
I'd guess Jewish Voice for Peace. Maybe its publicity for their conference this weekend

Hmm violence worked pretty well in the U.S. to liberate the colonists from Britain and end slavery.
Granted, it also worked well to wipe out most of the native american population and persecute other minorities.

Children are being murdered and maimed in Gaza at an alarming rate. A large number of the 63 Palestinians killed and over 400 wounded since the beginning of the year have been children. As we reported previously, when the United Nation's Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict recently visited Gaza, she was highly critical of Israeli security polices for being detrimental to Palestinian children. Yet with all the children being killed right now by Palestinian violence, one wonders at her current silence.

Where are all the front page media stories about the deaths of these children? Where is the international condemnation? Where are the mass rallies of grief? Can it be that the sympathy for murdered children is dependent on who is accused of the crime?

The death of an innocent child is a tragedy. No one should ignore the carnage taking place every day on the streets of Hamas-controlled Gaza simply because it is a result of Palestinian violence.
