Mumia Didn't Do It! But He Had a Right to Do It!

Host: Diop Olugbala
This Week: "Mumia Didn't Do It! But He Had a Right to Do It!" Understanding the State, Political Prisoners and Revolutionary Resistance
diop_head.jpg
Discussion led by InPDUM President Diop Olugbala: The State and ruling class media characterize Mumia as a cop killer who should be locked up for the rest of his life. At the same time, the State has denied Mumia his legal right to receive a trial at which evidence proving his innocence could be shown. Recently Philly District Attorney Seth Williams announced that he would rather see Mumia serve a life sentence without parole then to pursue a new trial for Mumia at which critical evidence could be presented. The International People's Democratic Uhuru Movement understands that the same cop who the State claims Mumia killed was part of an occupying army in the African community - responsible for carrying out a colonial policy of repression that results in rampant brutality and terror of our community everyday. The police have no legitimate authority over the African population. The court system justifies the police violence in our community while it condemns Africans who resist against the police violence. The police, prisons and courts are all instruments of the State. The fundamental objective of revolutionary struggle for African liberation is the seizure of State power.
