Peace could have been given

by Ted Rudow III, MA (Tedr77 [at] aol.com)
Assyria in Iraq, of course part of Syria today is part of that. Also Northern Iraq was a part of Assyria, and it was always fighting with its neighbours. First was Assyria, then Babylon, where did the Medes and Persians originate. Persia, they changed the name to Iran. I think it was only after World War 2 that they started to change the names of all these countries.
All of them wanted to show how independent they were and they weren't colonial empires anymore, so they wanted to go back to some original name.

So Iraq, under one name or another, has had many wars for many centuries, generations, millenniums, thousands of years, with its neighbours, both Iraq and Iran have been notoriously belligerent. Later they were both occupied by Greece. They were part of the Greek World Empire; still later a part of the Roman Empire. So they have been enemies and fought with each other for thousands of years.

The Americans have had their thirst for vengeance somewhat satisfied, and the world has received an impressive demonstration of American firepower to show what happens if you mess with America—sort of like the destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II. America had the biggest, meanest, worst weapons of mass destruction, as well as the will power to nuke their enemies. Peace could have been given a chance. They wanted the world to see just how powerful America is so that no other upstart would try to take on America.
