Come along on a FREE walking tour of San Francisco social movements history.

The hook for this week's edition is a snaggy plough. If you're familiar with the term share-cropping you probably think the phenomenon all but disappeared seventy years ago. Wrong! The land of San Francisco is being share-cropped today and you're the patsy.

Share-cropping means sharing a significant portion of the value you create in the form of goods and services with the mere owner of land (or its first lien holder--the mortgage lender). And, by golly, though you ain't got plow handles in your mitts, you're sharing a good quarter of the goods and services you produce with your landlord (or banker). You done be share-cropped, brother/sister . . . and you thought you was divorced from the soil! Look again. Your work (figuratively put, your plow) is snagging on the landlord's title to the physical universe.

On this walk you'll learn how all social movements are fundamentally about controlling the economic power of "location, location, location" otherwise known as land.
