Understanding Migration from El Salvador
the Impact of U.S. Policy
It is still very much true that Central Americans are here because the United States is there. The U.S. prescription for the root causes of migration are the same things that are causing it – continued U.S. economic intervention and militarism. The model of U.S. border militarization is being exported to Central America with deadly results.
Come and hear a report-back from three SF Bay Area participants in a fact-finding delegation to El Salvador that met with social movement leaders, groups that serve victims of immigration detention and deportation, and members of the FMLN government. Win-Mon Kyi and Vida Bonilla, current student organizers, and Lalo Gonzalez, former student organizer, with the CCSF Solidarity Committee in the campaign to save City College.
