A new website, Israel-PalestineTimeline: The human cost of the conflict, contains a list of all Israelis and Palestinians killed over the past 16 years. According to the site, at least 9,434 Palestinians and 1,204 Israelis and have been killed by the other side since 2000.

In addition to a chronological list of all deaths, the Timeline also provides charts; subcategories on fatalities of women, children, and babies; and chronological statistics on those injured on both sides.

The website is the creation of If Americans Knew, a nonprofit organization that provides information on Israel-Palestine to the American public and is known for its statistical studies of American news coverage of the conflict.

While media reports frequently suggest that Palestinians are responsible for the violence, the Timeline shows that Israeli violence against Palestinians is far more continual than most Americans realize.

It also supports a 2011 study by MIT researchers that found: “It is overwhelmingly Israel, not Palestine, that kills first following a lull. Indeed, it is virtually always Israel that kills first after a lull lasting more than a week.”

The Timeline states that it “aims to remind us all that every single death is the end of a life, devastating and terrifying to parents, children, siblings, friends, neighbors, witnesses and even entire communities. A neighbor or friend murdered is a loss that doesn’t go away.”
