DAVID ROVICS PERFORMING LIVE IN SAN FRANCISCO SPONSORED BY SAN FRANCISCO LIVING WAGE COALITION

“David Rovics is a freaking genius,” said Eric Spitznalel of MTV, and luckily for us, this “freaking genius” of a rabble-rousing singer/songwriter will be playing at the Folk Against the TPP, a musical fundraiser to support the campaign against the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and against a Wall on the Border.

The concert is to be held Friday, November 18th at the Redstone Labor Temple, 2940 – 16th Street, in San Francisco at 7:00 p.m.

The TPP is a pending trade agreement between twelve Pacific Rim countries that will depress wages and working conditions in Mexico and in border towns. Factory owners, in anticipation of the passage of the TPP, have already scripted their lines: “Either take this wage cut or we will move these jobs to Vietnam or Malaysia.” The Business Roundtable, which represents some of the largest U.S. companies, is pushing to get Congress to pass the TPP before the inauguration of our next president. Free trade agreements, such as the TPP, are one of the root causes of stagnating and depreciating wages for the majority of workers in the United States and Mexico.
