Lack of Funds in Sacramento's Transportation Infrastructure

Transportation has been an ongoing issue for the Sacramento area. Sacramento is a prospering city and there has been a population increase which is putting more cars on the road. The big problem the city is facing is generating the necessary funds in order to improving the roads and highways.

There is a nonprofit transportation research group known as TRIP that took a closer look at critical long-term projects in the city. “TRIP is sponsored by insurance companies, equipment manufacturers and other businesses involved with highway and transit engineering and construction” (Kathy Park, KCRA, 2016). Their research found that many Sacramento residents are not happy with the current state of getting around the area, and the poor conditions are ruining their own vehicles.

"Raggedy roads, terrible roads . . . I think the city should buy me a new car" (Kevin Hollaway, Sacramento Resident).

As a Sacramento resident myself, I can completely understand the frustration from other locals who are not satisfied with the road conditions. There needs to be more of a concern with this issue and the state officials need to make more of an effort to generate the funds in order to improve the road conditions in the Sacramento Area.
