We expect insurance companies to protect us from serious risks, but when it comes to climate change, the insurance industry is doing the opposite: it is insuring and investing in new fossil fuel projects that directly contribute to climate chaos.

On June 16th, leaders of the world’s largest Insurance companies will be here in San Francisco for an industry conference. Join us and tell these Insurance CEO’s to Unfriend Coal!

Here’s the nitty gritty:
WHAT: San Francisco, Tell the Global Insurance Industry to Unfriend Coal
WHERE: 655 Stockton Street, San Francisco CA 94108 (corner Stockton and California)
WHEN: June 16 at 5:15pm

We want to give the insurance industry a loud and powerful welcome to the Bay Area and remind them that the best insurance is to keep coal where it belongs - in the ground. This will be a peaceful, public rally on public sidewalks. Feel free to bring your friends and family!

Check out Unfriend Coal’s website for more info: http://unfriendcoal.com/

What’s Unfriend Coal?
It’s a new campaign! The Unfriend Coal network is a global coalition of NGOs and social movements that is pressuring insurance companies to get out of the coal business and support the transition to clean energy. Please come out, get to know us and support!

Did you know?
Insurance companies have invested more than $500 Billion in the fossil fuel sector. At a time when science tells us that we must leave fossil fuels in the ground and build no more coal plants, the industry is still insuring the mining and building of new coal facilities. The goods news is that with people power, we are beginning to see cracks in this industry approach - some insurers have begun to exit the coal sector.
