Hundreds Of Immigrant Families, Activists To “Block I.C.E.”, Demand End To Family Detention

by APTP
The daily horrors being committed by the US government against immigrant families and individuals at border crossings are a crime against humanity.
Outside the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Headquarters at 630 Sansome Street, San Francisco, on Monday, July 2, 2018 at 3pm, hundreds of immigrants families, children, community organization leaders and allies will rally and take direct action to demand the end to family detention, the dissolution of ICE, and the end to the Muslim Ban.

Echoing the #FreeOurFuture Action in San Diego and following the millions of people in the streets calling for an end to family detention on June 30, Bay Area activists plan to shut down ICE operations.

BACKGROUND MESSAGE FROM MIJENTE::

The daily horrors being committed by the US government against immigrant families and individuals at border crossings are a crime against humanity.

Those on the frontlines who have been living with and resisting America’s hardline and inhumane immigration policies are warning us: what happens at the US-Mexico borderlands is the laboratory for what happens in the rest of the country.

We want to keep families together, but more than that we want to keep the future of our families and all our people free.

We have seen this before. On the slavery auction block, during the displacement and genocide of Native Americans, and the internment of Japanese-Americans in concentration camps. We have seen this before in Nazi Europe. Indeed, many of us and our families came to the US to escape the very conditions that we now find along the border and in detention centers throughout the country.

But these worst moments in human history were not inevitable and we the people are not doomed to repeat them. We can be part of a bold, courageous mas movement to challenge the unchecked power of this administration and its policies, and bring an end to this terrible chapter in this country’s life.
