High court upholds affirmative action
WASHINGTON – The grassroots movement that marched and rallied in defense of affirmative action over the last decade hailed the Supreme Court’s 5 to 4 decision, June 23, upholding race-conscious admissions programs at the University of Michigan (U-M) Law School. The U.S. Supreme Court will soon rule on the Texas ban on
sodomy between consenting adults. Communities across the
country are preparing to react when the court either throws
out or upholds the sodomy law. The court's decision could

SF Reacts to Queer Supreme Court Ruling
Dear Queer Community and Allies,
We expect the Supreme Court ruling to come down as soon as
Monday in the case of Lawrence v. Texas, about a man who was
arrested for private consensual gay sex in Texas.
We must obtain the same right for LGBT folks that
heterosexuals already have for private consensual
sexuality! It is a matter of basic justice and dignity
and influences how LGBT folks are treated in myriad
