First Casualty of Student Walk Outs! Eighth grader Anthony Soltero shot himself through the head on Thursday, March 30, after the assistant principal at De Anza Middle School told him that he was going to prison for three years because of his involvement as an organizer of the April 28 school walk-outs to protest the anti-immigrant legislation in Washington. The vice principal also forbade Anthony from attending graduation activities and threatened to fine his mother for Anthonys truancy and participation in the student protests...

Thousands of Students March and Rally in Watsonville for Immigrant Rights 
On Friday, March 31st, thousands of students from local schools, including Watsonville High, Pajaro Valley High, Aptos High and Renaissance High, marched and rallied against HR 4437 in Watsonville.
In anticipation of the walkout, both Pajaro Valley High and Watsonville High decided to close their school doors in an effort to keep students safe.

Police Militarize Downtown Fresno on Cesar Chavez Day 
Downtown Fresno was a police zone on Friday. Hundreds of students were prevented from reaching City Hall by police in squad cars, on horse back, motorcycles, and on foot.
